Due to  Coronavirus/Covid-19 concerns, we are suspending future meetings until further notice.  However, we will be directing you to virtual events that support our mission and commitment to the area.

The Public Policy Network (PPN) is a civic organization that monitors state and national policy proposals that affect individuals and our communities. We are an all-volunteer group that provides data, information and resources to enable the citizens of western North Carolina and north Georgia to make informed decisions about policies that affect them.

We welcome participation in our informational forums, special events and monthly PPN meetings.

There are numerous ways that citizens can become informed and involved in decisions made by their government.

Sunday, October 4, 2020

4:00 pm to 5:30 PM

Virtual meeting via Zoom – see below for details.

Think Locally.  Act Neighborly.

The public is invited to join us on Sunday, October 4, from 4PM to 5:30 PM, to hear from two outstanding local leaders who are spearheading efforts to support and grow existing businesses, while promoting jobs & economic development in western NC and North GA.

The Public Policy Network of western NC and North Georgia (PPN)‘s featured speakers will be Mr. Paul Worley, Director of Economic and Workforce Development for Tri-County Community College and Cherokee County NC, and Mr. Darren Harper, Program Manager for the Downtown Development Authority in Blairsville, GA.  Mr. Harper and Mr. Worley will give us all a snapshot of how COVID has impacted local businesses and jobs in their respective regions; how they both see the challenges ahead for local businesses before and after COVID; and finally, they will help us understand how the financial incentives previously created (including those currently under discussion) in Washington, DC and in our State Legislatures can provide resources and technical support to local businesses and workers who have been impacted by COVID-19.  Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the forum.

Please register for the event by logging on to ZOOM: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN lgcKockrTyKVP2llRjBLxQ
